On March 12, 2018 Higher School of Business KFU hosted the 3rd meeting of the International Advisory Board on the topic «Experience in the HSB internationalization and integration of business education programmes in the global environment». Three international experts gave their presentations on the successful experience of internationalization, the agenda of the meeting.
The Rector of Kazan Federal University of Doctor, Prof., Ilshat GAFUROV made a welcoming speech to the members of the International Advisory Board. He thanked the members of the International Advisory Board for their active participation in the HSB's activities and noted that their professional expert opinion is essential in formulating the development strategy.
The meeting was attended by:
- Valery SOROKIN – Chairman of the Board of Directors of PJSC AK Bars bank, general director of JSC Svjazinvestneftehim, chairman of the International Advisory Board of the Higher School of Business of KFU;
- Ilshat GAFUROV – Rector of Kazan (Volga) Federal University;
- Alsu AKHMETSHINA - Dean of Higher School of Business KFU;
- Airat BASHIROV - President of CJSC Danaflex;
- Sung Joo PARK - Founding President of AAPBS (Association of Asia-Pasific Business Schools), Professor Emeritus of KAIST Business School (South Korea), PhD;
- Virginijus KUNDROTAS – Dean of Adizes Graduate School , PhD, President of the Baltic Management Development Association (BMDA);
- Venera VAGIZOVA - Vice Dean of the Higher School of Business KFU.
Timothy Mescon , AACSB International Executive Vice President and Chief Officer, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (USA), PhD, was specially invited to this meeting.
Timothy MESCON has explained the mission of AACSB - “Business.Educational.Connected”; has represented the world trends and statistics of the intake and outtake students. It’s remarkable that according to UNESCO data (2015) Russia is ranked the 5th after the USA, Great Britain, Australia and France, in the global rating of countries that accept international students. Further the speaker noted that the number of international students in Brazil, India and the USA is decreasing, which may cause change in global modern trends in the sphere of education internationalization. The examples of the successful implementation of strategy for internationalization in the schools comparable to HSB KFU in Sweden, the Netherlands, Great Britain and the USA were taken into account. According to the speaker, the internationalization’s core tools are the following: brand and educational programmes recognition, collaboration and partnership, faculty qualification, students’ satisfaction, educational programmes quality, special preparatory schools of English, the number of programmes in English.
The great interest was drawn to the report of Sung Joo PARK: «KAIST case in the business programmes internationalization». KAIST Business School represents «MIT» in South Korea, that’s why its experience is remarkable: a significant number of the programmes in English; reasonable choice of educational directions (IT, Business Management, Technology Management, Management Engineering, Innovation and change Management, e – Governance, Finance and Finance Engineering, Green Business); increase faculty internationalization level; students and faculty exchange programmes; the number of international faculty members and students; joint diploma programmes; international research project; international accreditations acquisition, which all helps to develop partnerships with other schools.
Virginijus KUNDROTAS presentation was dedicated to the creation of the joint Norwegian-Lithuanian Management University, the strategy the strategy of which is to transfer the business education experience from the MBA and Master’s levels to the Bachelor’s. Virginijus Kundrotas pointed out the relevance of the educational trips to the international companies for Russian managers. Notably, HSB KFU has become a member of Baltic Management Development Association, the President of which is Virginijus KUNDROTAS.
The Dean of HSB, Alsu AKHMETSHINA has presented the HSB’s upcoming events: АМВА re-accreditation; taking the path of AACSB institutional accreditation; preparing for the International Scientific and Practical conference «Modern business schools in the era of disruptive technologies».
The agenda of the conference includes the discussion of the following issues:
- new challenges in the market of management education;
- the impact of disruptive technologies on the format of modern business schools;
- model of the future business school;
- transformation of marketing tools, new expectations of the clients;
- changes in the structure and content of management education programs;
- IT solutions in modern business education;
- internationalization of managerial education in Russia;
- strengthening the cooperation of business schools with the business community.
Leaders of the global business associations, deans and heads of the national and international business schools are planning to take part in the conference. Alsu AKHMETSHINA has invited the International Advisory Board members to take part in the conference, which will take place on June 14-15, 2018 in Kazan.
Alsu AKHMETSHINA has presented Graduway digital platform for creating the network resource uniting HSB Alumni. The advantages were taken into account: integration into the professional community, source of information for personal development, CV placement and vacancies announcements, global information resource for placing startups and projects, search for partners. Graduway will assisst HSB with brand promotion and internationalization, strengthening contacts with the business community, attracting new students and partners etc.
МВА-Refresh programme was announced for HSB Alumni.
At the end of the meeting Alsu AKHMETSHINA expressed gratitude to the International Advisory Board members and international expert for the productive work.
