An international conference "Modern business schools in the era of disruptive technologies" was held at the Higher School of Business KFU

On June 14-15, 2018 an international scientific and practical conference "Modern business schools in the era of disruptive technologies" was held in Kazan, organized by the Higher School of Business of Kazan Federal University in cooperation with the Russian Association of Business Education.

The conference united the leaders of the world business education and became an authoritative platform for professional discussions on the most pressing problems of the future business education. Geography of participants: Great Britain, USA, South Korea, Poland, Kazakhstan and representatives of Russian cities: Kazan, Moscow, St. Petersburg, Ekaterinburg, Perm, Ulyanovsk, Volgograd, Nizhny Novgorod, Rostov-on-Don and others.
The conference was held with the support of the Office of the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan.

The objectives of the conference were defined as: 

engagement of leading domestic and foreign experts in a joint discussion of current trends in business education, taking into account new challenges in the market of managerial education;
forming strategic recommendations on developing the potential of business schools in the era of breakthrough technologies and the formation of a model of the business school of the future.

Key issues discussed at the conference:
breakthrough technologies and their impact on modern business education;
new challenges in the market of management education;
model of the business school of the future;
transformation of marketing tools, new consumer expectations
changing the structure and content of management education programs;
it-solutions in modern business education;
the internationalization of managerial education in Russia;
strengthening cooperation between business schools and the business community.

The President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov took part in the conference. Prior to the conference, the President held a separate meeting with international and Russian experts in the field of business education.
Welcoming the participants of the conference, the President of the Republic of Tatarstan stressed the special role of modern business education in training the managers of the new generation: "Dear participants of the conference, let me greet you in the Republic of Tatarstan, Kazan, at the Kazan Federal University at the international scientific-practical conference. The topic of today's conference "Modern business schools in the era of disruptive technologies" plays a significant role for the Republic of Tatarstan, as our republic is the center for the development of advanced technologies, renovation of traditional industries, training of new personnel for Industry 4.0, strengthening of the business sector. Higher School of Business KFU is the leading republican site for training and retraining personnel for business and has all the necessary resources and opportunities to implement the tasks set by the President of the Russian Federation to train management personnel for the new economy," the head of the republic said.
In his welcoming speech, Rector of KFU Ilshat Gafurov said: "I am glad to welcome you to Kazan Federal University, one of the oldest higher educational institutions of Russia. The topic of the conference "Modern business schools in the era of disruptive technologies" is especially relevant to our university. At the current stage of development KFU has already managed to implement the model of "University 3.0" - a scientific and technological cluster, focused on transfer of technologies and developments to real practice and maximum practical orientation of educational programs. In modern environment, KFU improves its level: a course is taken to implement the "University 4.0" model, which implies the virtualization and digitization of all research and educational projects. The main mechanism for its implementation is the use of the advantages of artificial intelligence, large data, intelligent technologies, robotization and other disruptive technologies caused by the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Both scientists and students of KFU today are taught the skills of strategic business thinking: to create competitive ideas that can "shoot" and pay off in the real market. Effective interaction between business and education is carried out by our structural unit - Higher School of Business KFU ". The President of the Russian Association of Business Education Sergey Myasoedov addressed the conference participants with a welcoming speech. He thanked the President of the Republic of Tatarstan and Kazan Federal University for the great attention and support of the business education system. Sergey Myasoedov made a presentation on "New Trends in the Development of Business Education in Russia and the World" at the plenary session.

Alsu Akhmetshina, Dean of Higher School of Business, made a presentation on the topic "Higher School of Business KFU in the system of modern transformations". In her speech, Alsu Akhmetshina noted: "Higher School of Business was established in 2000 as a platform for the implementation of the MBA programme, and in 2015 was reorganized into the Higher School of Business of Kazan Federal University. Our school is a member of international business education associations: European (EFMD), American (AACSB), Central and Eastern Europe (CEEMAN), Baltic (BMDA). We have AMBA international accreditation. Taking into account the need for effective implementation of the strategy of Higher School of Business, the International Advisory Board was established in 2017, headed by Valery Sorokin. The Board includes the main corporate partners of the School (PAO Tatneft, Svyazinvestneftekhim, OAO Grid Company, AO Yadran Oil, TagraS-Holding, Ak Bars Holding Company, ZAO Danaflex), As well as two leading foreign consultants in the field of business education in Asia and Europe: Sung Joo Pak and Virginius Kundrotas. At the first meeting of the International Advisory Board, members made a decision to update the educational programs in accordance with modern transformations caused by disruptive technologies that change the traditional notions of business and management. To meet the expectations of the students, the School Council has proposed to update the main DBA, MBA and Masters programmes annually. The School has experience in implementing sectoral MBA programmes: IT management, healthcare, agribusiness, oil and gas business with the goal of training management personnel for the implementation of Strategy 2030 of the Republic of Tatarstan in accordance with modern transformations and disruptive technologies. In order to get acquainted with the best practices of companies in the field of breakthrough technologies, the School organizes field trip modules in cooperation with its international partners".

AACSB International Vice-President, Head of AACSB Europe, Middle East and Africa (USA), Timothy Mescon (Disruption and business education in the future),
Founding President of the Association of Asia-Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS), Professor Emeritus of Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology KAIST, member of the International Advisory Board of Higher School of Business and Consultant on Internationalization and Development of Educational Programmes, Sung Joo Park ("The Challenges of business education in the 4th industrial revolution era ").
The leaders of international business education associations emphasized the high level of quality of the educational programmes in Higher School of Business, noted the serious potential of the School for further development.
The outstanding Russian economist, academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Abel Aganbegyan ("The rise of education (the whole sphere of the "knowledge economy") is the most important source of socio-economic growth") took part in the conference, who is HSB’s key partner, consultant, DBA, MBA in healthcare programmes advisor and a lecturer since the first days of the School's work.
Since 2014, Higher School of Business has been cooperating with Almaty Management University (AlmaU), which Founder and President Asylbek Kozhakhmetov took an active part in the plenary ("Skills of the future (Y, Z): what is the preparation for modern education") and panel sessions.
In the panel session, "Internationalization of Business Schools" Joanna Koczar, Coordinator for Cooperation with Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Wroclaw University of Economics, took part with the presentation "Tools for internationalization of business education in Poland".
Heads of Russian business schools took an active part in the conference:

Imran Akperov - Rector of the Southern University;
Maxim Zhivaev - rector of the Moscow International Higher Business School "MIRBIS";
as well as UrFU Business School (Ekaterinburg), Graduate School of Business SMU (Moscow), Head of the Economics Department of PFUR (Moscow).
Within the framework of the conference, three panel sessions were organized to discuss changes in business processes under the influence of modern transformations and practical issues of introducing breakthrough technologies into modern business education:
New challenges in the market of management education. Influence of disruptive technologies on the structure and content of management educational programs;
Internationalization of business schools;
Partnership of business schools and business: new approaches.

Representatives of corporate partners of the Graduate School of Business took part in the plenary and panel discussions:
Vadim Lukin - Deputy General Director of OAO "Grid Company" for corporate policy;
Artur Nikolayev - Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tatarstan;
Igor Nosov - General Director of the Special Economic Zone "Innopolis";
Tatyana Rechkunova - Head of the Personnel Management Department of PAO "Sberbank";
Marat Takhaviev - Head of the Engineering and Technical Center of OOO Gazprom Transgaz Kazan;
Artur Arslanov - Advisor to the General Director - project manager of OAO Holding Company AK Bars;
Ilshat Siraziev - First Deputy Head of Business Development and Capital Markets at Svyazinvestneftekhim;
The conference was also attended by the graduates and students of the DBA and MBA programmes of Higher School of Business.

Summing up the conference, the participants made key conclusions on the main areas of transformation of modern business education, such as: new challenges in the market of management education; the impact of disruptive technologies on the format of modern business schools; model of the business school of the future and many others that will promote the exchange of accumulated experience and practices, consolidation of the world professional community of business schools.
"Today, the training of effective business leaders and managers is not a task for a single business school, but for the entire world professional community of business education. That is why strengthening the cooperation of business schools with the business community is the leading priority for the development of business education institutions and their associations, uniting people around the common cause and forming a field for the exchange of opinions, knowledge and mutual cooperation," the conference participants noted.
